The Morris Memorial Basketball Program is a program for girls and boys in grades 1-8 that reside in the Chatham School Distrct and the surrounding townships. Formerly known as the St. James CYO program, this non-sectarian program uses basketball as a vehicle for enhancing players' social skills and self esteem. Youth will learn basic basketball skills with a strong focus on sportsmanship and team spirit. All teams are COED . Volunteer coaches will lead skill building drills the first half of the hour and then the youth will scrimmage other teams during the second half of the hour. Scores will not be kept and all players will have equal playing time, regardless of skill. Division 1 is comprised of 1st/2nd grades, division 2 is comprised of 3rd/4th grades, division 3 is comprised of 5th/6th grades and division 4 is comprised of 7th/8th grades (provided we have enough 7th/8th graders to field 2 teams). Divisions 2-4 practice for one hour during the week.
Division 2-4 games will be held on Saturday mornings at the Chatham Middle School. Division 1 games will be held on Sunday afternoons at the Morris Memorial building on Park Row, Chatham. Division 1 games will begin at 1:00 or 2:00.
